The parade began from the Bemina region of Srinagar on Saturday, the ninth day of Muharram, and when it came to Bemina Chowk, a conflict followed between the police and the individuals associated with the parade. The police attempted to persuade the individuals yet they were not prepared to leave. After this, the police had to make a move.
The police depended on utilizing poisonous gas shells and pellet weapons to scatter the individuals.
