E-commerce giant Amazon has refused to appear before the Joint Committee of Parliament on the Data Protection Bill on October 28 and this amounts to breach of privilege, panel chairperson and BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said on Friday.
Lekhi said that “the board is consistent as it would see it that coercive activity can be proposed to the legislature against the web-based business organization”.
“Amazon has would not show up before the board on October 28 and if nobody for the internet business organization shows up before the board it adds up to penetrate of benefit,” she told PTI.
Then, Facebook’s approach head Ankhi Das showed up before the board on the issue of information security on Friday.
Facebook India delegates were posed some intense and looking through inquiries by the individuals from the board, sources said.
