  • The new tender will be released in a week, priority will be given to Make India
  • Central government continues to ban Chinese companies after the border dispute

Action is going on against Chinese companies from India after the border dispute in the Galvan Valley of Ladakh. Now the Indian Railways has canceled the tender for making 44 cm high-speed Vande Bharat trains. It is understood that the Railways took this decision due to bidding on behalf of a joint venture of a Chinese company with Indian companies to make these trains. The Railways informed about the cancellation of the tender late Friday night through a tweet.

The new tender will be released soon

According to the railway, a new tender will be issued in a week for the construction of these trains. Make in India will be given priority in this new tender. However, the Railways have not given an official reason for the cancellation of the current tender. The tender for the construction of these trains was opened last month. The railway coach factory of Chennai on July 10 issued a tender for the construction of 44 high-speed Vande Bharat trains.

Only 1 in 6 Chinese companies were involved.

According to reports, 6 companies had submitted tenders for the supply of electrical equipment and other goods for the 16-coach 44 Vande Bharat semi high-speed trains. The Chinese joint venture CRRC-Pioneer (India) Private Limited was the only foreign company, but the tender was canceled due to its relationship with China. The joint venture was formed in 2015 by China-based company CRRC Yongji Electric Company Limited and Pioneer Electric (India) Private Limited of Gurgaon.

The entire project is worth 1500 crores

According to sources in the news agency PTI, the Railways believes that this tender should be given to a domestic company. When the Chinese company appeared at the forefront of the tender race, the Railways canceled the tender. The cost of this project is about 1500 crores. According to the sources, after the issuance of this tender, some changes have also been made in the rules of public procurement. The new tender will also include these rules.

These companies also bid

  • Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited
  • Bharat Industries
  • ElectroWaves Electronics Private Limited
  • Medha Servo Drives Private Limited
  • Powernetics Equipment India Private Limited

First Vande Bharat train run between Delhi-Varanasi

The semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train operates on two routes in the country. In February 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the country’s first Vande Bharat train on the New Delhi-Varanasi route. After this, the second Vande Bharat train was run for New Delhi and Katra. The train was flagged off by Home Minister Amit Shah on 3 October 2019.
