At 3.9 Degrees, Delhi Shivers At Season’s Lowest Minimum Temperature

Biting cold conditions prevailed in the national capital this morning as the minimum temperature dropped to 3.9 degrees Celsius, the lowest this season so far.
“The Safdarjung Observatory, which gives agent information to the city, recorded a low of 3.9 degrees Celsius, four degrees underneath typical. The most extreme temperature is probably going to settle around 21 degrees Celsius,” an IMD official said.
The mercury plunged to 3.3 degrees Celsius and 3.4 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road and Ayanagar, separately, as cold breezes from snow-loaded Western Himalayas kept on clearing the city, the India Meteorological Department said.
On Friday, the base temperature had plunged to 2.7 degrees Celsius at Jafarpur.
Delhi had recorded a “serious” cold day on Thursday as the most extreme temperature dropped to 15.2 degrees Celsius, seven degrees beneath ordinary and the least this season up until now.
On Friday, it rose to 19.8 degrees Celsius.
A “chilly day” is the point at which the base temperature is under 10 degrees Celsius and the most extreme is at any rate 4.4 degrees Celsius beneath ordinary. A “serious” cold day is the point at which the most extreme temperature is in any event 6.5 degrees underneath ordinary.
Mostly overcast skies are anticipated over the public capital towards the night, the IMD said.
The base temperature is relied upon to float around 5 degrees Celsius in the following five to six days, it said.
