Beirut blasts may be due to old explosive material at port: Security official
The explosion killed and wounded dozens of people, shaking buildings and sending huge plumes of smoke billowing into the Beirut sky.
Two massive explosions that hit Beirut on Tuesday may have been caused by explosive materials confiscated years ago and stored at the city’s port, General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim said.
“Apparently there is a distribution center containing material that was seized years prior, and apparently it was profoundly unstable material,” the senior security official stated, including that an examination would be propelled into the blasts.
The blast murdered and injured many individuals, shaking structures and sending enormous tufts of smoke surging into the Beirut sky.
Video film of the subsequent impact demonstrated a huge orange fireball that overshadowed close by structures and sent an overwhelming cyclone like shockwave tearing through the city.
