Congress veteran Ahmed Patel passes away: The politician had been in a Gurgaon hospital since his health worsened after a Covid infection.

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, one of Sonia Gandhi’s closest political advisers, died at a Gurgaon hospital this morning. He was 71. The veteran politician had been at Medanta Hospital since his health worsened after a Covid infection. In a tweet at around 4 am, his son, Faisal Patel, said that the Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat died at 3.30 am

“With significant sadness and distress, I lament to report the pitiful and troublesome downfall of my dad, Mr. Ahmed Patel at 25/11/2020, 03:30 AM. Subsequent to testing positive for COVID-19 around a month back, his wellbeing exacerbated further because of various organ disappointments. May Allah awards him Jannatul firdaus, inshallah,” he tweeted, mentioning all their well-wishers to stick to the COVID-19 guidelines by staying away from mass social events.

“…also keep up social separating standards consistently,” Faisal Patel said in the explanation.

Messages of sympathies and accolades poured in not long after the declaration of Mr. Patel’s demise.

Grieving the passing of Mr. Patel, Congress boss Sonia Gandhi said she has lost an “indispensable confidant, a devoted associate, and a companion”. “I have lost an associate, whose whole life was committed to the Congress party,” Mrs. Sonia Gandhi said.

Executive Narendra Modi recollected the prepared legislator, saying “his function in fortifying the Congress Party would consistently be recalled”.

“Disheartened by the downfall of Ahmed Patel Ji. He consumed a very long time out in the open time on earth, serving society. Known for his sharp psyche, his function in fortifying the Congress Party would consistently be recollected. Addressed his child Faisal and communicated sympathies. Top Congress pioneer Rahul Gandhi considered Mr. Patel a “mainstay of the Congress party”. “He lived and inhaled Congress and remained with the gathering through its most troublesome occasions. He was a gigantic resource. We will miss him. My adoration and sympathies to Faisal, Mumtaz, and the family,” Mr. Sonia Gandhi tweeted.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said Mr. Patel was an accomplished associate to whom she “continually turned for exhortation and direction”.

Ahmed Patel, likewise the financial officer of the Congress, had tried positive for the COVID-19 on October 1 and had been admitted to the ICU of Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on November 15.
