Covid-19 has become active again in China, a stronghold of the Corona virus. Several markets have been closed after six new localized cases of corona virus in the capital of Beijing. With these new cases, the number of infected people has increased to nine in the last three days in Beijing, while 12 new cases of infection have been reported in other parts of the country.

China’s National Health Commission (NHC) said on Saturday that a total of 18 new cases of corona virus were confirmed in the country on Friday, including 6 cases of localized infections in Beijing. The commission said that till Friday, 7 new patients with no symptoms appeared, taking the total number of such patients living in isolated habitations to 98. Authorities in Beijing found the corona virus onboard cutting imported salmon fish at the Shinfadi market.

Corona virus rise again raising concerns

The head of the Shinfadi market, Zhang Yuxi, told Beijing News on Friday that nine people who had come in contact after that were separated. However, they have not been found infected in the investigation. Officials have become concerned over the increase in infection cases in Beijing as no new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the city for nearly two months. New cases have given rise to concerns that the corona virus has spread again in the Chinese capital.

Kai Ki, secretary of the city’s ruling Communist Party, said local officials have been asked to be prepared on a ‘war footing’ to deal with the possibility of the virus spreading again. According to the official newspaper ‘Global Times’, China’s health experts believe that sporadic cases are normal because this infectious disease has not been eradicated. There is no possibility of the epidemic spreading again as the residents of this city with a population of two crores are very aware of taking precautions.

Shinfadi market and Jingshan seafood market closed immediately

The two patients, who appeared on Friday, are colleagues of a meat research center in the Fengtai district of Beijing and are undergoing treatment at a hospital. One patient of the surname Liu had traveled to eastern China’s Shangdong province for five days, while the other had not made a recent trip. Beijing immediately closed the Shinfadi market and Jingshen seafood market in the Fengtai district where the infected patient had gone. In total, six wholesale markets in Beijing have completely or partially closed their operations on Friday.

The decision to reopen schools for first to third grade was also changed on Friday after new cases of corona virus were reported in Beijing city for the second consecutive day. As of Friday, the total number of infected in China reached 83,075 of which 74 patients are still under treatment. However, nobody’s condition is serious. NHC said that 78,367 people have been discharged from the hospital and 4,634 people have died of the disease.
