Delhi riots: LG vetoes cabinet’s decision on lawyers, govt to now approve panel chosen by police

Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal Thursday overturned the Delhi Cabinet’s decision to appoint a panel of lawyers of its own choice to argue the February riots cases in the High Court and Supreme Court.
Baijal summoned Article 239AA(4) of the Indian Constitution and alluded the contest to the President, referring to “contrasts of supposition” with the chosen government. Then, the board of legal counselors picked by the Delhi Police and endorsed by Baijal will contend the cases.
