Farmers’ protest: After Singhu border, Delhi Police close Tikri border
Traffic police alerted commuters that both the carriageways of the Tikri border have been closed and motorists could neither enter Delhi, nor go to Haryana via that route
Even as the Singhu border near outer Delhi’s Narela has remained closed for traffic since Thursday evening because of thousands of agitating farmers marching towards Delhi, on Friday morning police also closed the Tikri border that leads from Delhi to Bahadurgarh.
Traffic police cautioned workers that both the carriageways of the Tikri fringe have been shut and drivers could neither enter Delhi nor go to Haryana by means of that course.
The Singhu fringe that interfaces Narela and connecting Delhi zones with Sonepat was shut around 4.30 pm on Thursday as Delhi Police said they had contributions from their Haryana partners about ranchers approaching the outskirt.
Gaurav Sharma, agent chief of police (external north), said on Thursday night that the Singhu fringe would be open by 7 pm, yet that didn’t occur as the danger didn’t moderate.
Drivers have been encouraged to dodge the Singhu outskirt, the Tikri fringe, NH-44, Outer Ring Road, and Mukarba Chowk taking into account the bars and exacting checking at the fringes.
While other fringe courses have stayed open, police checking at each one of those focuses has hindered traffic vigorously since Wednesday night.
