Meanwhile, the Air Force has shifted its fighter planes to forward bases and airfields.

News agency ANI quoted a government source as saying that the Air Force Chief had come on a two-day tour. China has deployed more than 10,000 troops near the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh. In such a situation, the Air Force Chief reviewed the operational preparedness to deal with any situation.

Leh and Srinagar airbase near East Ladakh

The Air Force Chief visited Leh on 17 June and Srinagar Airbase on 18 June. Both these airbases are near the eastern Ladakh region. Leh and Srinagar airbases will be used if any fighter aircraft operation is required in the higher areas.

Through these airbases, India will be able to keep a close watch on China’s movements. When Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Indranil Nandy was asked about the visit of the Air Force Chief, he said- No comments.

India deployed Sukhoi-30, Mirage 2000

  • The Air Force has sent Sukhoi-30 MKI, Mirage 2000 and Jaguar Fighter aircraft to the forward base so that they can also fly at short notice.
  • American Apache Attack helicopters have also been deployed to assist the army in areas where Indian Army personnel are present.
  • Chinook helicopters have been deployed around the Leh airbase to allow immediate movement of troops when needed.
  • Mi-17V5 medium-lift helicopters are also present there to deliver essential goods.

Why is the Indian Air Force in a strong position when it is needed in Ladakh?

  • According to the news agency ANI, if the Air Force needs any operation in Ladakh and Tibet region, it will be able to use airbases in Leh, Srinagar, Avantipur, Bareilly, Adampur, Ludhiana, Halwara, Ambala and Sirsa. Through these airbases, India’s fighter planes can reach the Ladakh border in a very short time.
  • Talking about China, in the event of an attack on India, its plane will have to fly with Hotan and Gar Gunsa. This will take them more time than India to reach the 14 thousand feet high border.
