Flight tickets booked between 25 Mar and 3 May will be ‘fully refunded’: DGCA tells SC

Supreme Court on Sunday was informed by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that tickets booked by passengers in domestic and international carriers for air travel between March 25 to May 3, 2020, which was the first two phases of lockdown, will be “fully refunded.”
“Non-discount of air tickets booked during lockdown and formation of automatic credit shell via carriers is an infringement of Civil Aviation Requirements and arrangements of the Aircraft Rules of 1937,” DGCA told SC, as per reports.
The Center has conceded the traveler time till 31 March 2021 to utilize his preferred credit shell on any course.
In any case, it said that in all cases the discount by the aircraft must be started inside 15 days.
Prior, SC had given a notification to the Center and DGCA on a supplication looking for a full discount of tickets for flights dropped due to COVID prompted lockdown in the nation.

Additionally, in April, the Center had requested that aircraft discount full passages, without forcing wiping out charges, to the individuals who booked tickets during the main lockdown from 25 March to 14 April for movement between 25 March and 3 May.
The service has solicited the Directorate General from Civil Aviation to guarantee carriers conform to its order.
