Fodder scam: Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav granted bail in Chaibasa treasury case, to remain in jail as Dumka treasury case still pending.
The Jharkhand High Court on Friday granted bail to former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav in connection with the Chaibasa treasury case related to the Rs 950 crore fodder scam.
The case concerned the withdrawal of Rs 33.67 crore from the Chaibasa depository during the year 1992-93 when the RJD pioneer was the main pastor of Bihar.
Lalu Prasad Yadav won’t be free in spite of the bail being conceded as he has been condemned to 14 years in prison in association with the Dumka depository misappropriation case. The Dumka case relates to the fake withdrawal of Rs 3.5 crore from the Dumka depository by authorities from the Animal Husbandry Department between the years 1991 and 1996 when Yadav was the CM of unified Bihar.
The RJD pioneer and previous association serve have been indicted in three cases identified with the grain trick.
Lalu Prasad Yadav is under therapy Jharkhand’s head Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) as he has been experiencing ‘Type 2’ diabetes and hypertension. He is a persistent kidney tolerant.
Lalu Prasad Yadav has been indicted in six cases in association with the misappropriation of public assets and there have been changing sentences granted in these cases. Lalu Prasad Yadav is simultaneously serving these prison terms. He was allowed bail in the Deoghar depository case by the Jharkhand High Court in December 2013 out of one of the feed trick cases on grounds that he had served half of the 3.5 long stretches of detainment granted to him.
He won’t be legitimately connected with the Bihar surveys which will be held in three stages beginning October 28. Lalu Prasad Yadav has been restricted from challenging surveys and precluded from Parliament.
