Former J-K lieutenant governor Girish Chandra Murmu takes oath as CAG

Former Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Girish Chandra Murmu took oath as the comptroller and auditor general (CAG) on Saturday. The oath was administered by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others. Murmu stepped down as the Jammu and Kashmir’s L-G on Wednesday and was appointed the CAG on Thursday.
“By ideals of the force vested in him by condition 1 of article 148 of the Constitution of India, the President has been satisfied to choose Shri Girish Chandra Murmu to be the Comptroller and Auditor General of India with impact from the date he accept the charge of his office,” the money service notice marked by joint secretary Rajiv Kumar Mishra read.

As the CAG, Murmu will be answerable for inspecting all uses of the state and local governments and will hold the post for a long time or till he turns 65 whichever starts things out.
Murmu assumed responsibility as the principal L-G of Jammu and Kashmir on October 31, 2019, preceding which he filled in as the use secretary in the Ministry of Finance. He was likewise posted in the home office in Gujarat and was moved to the main clergyman’s office as head secretary to Anandiben Patel after Modi assumed responsibility as the executive in the year 2014.
Previous Union priest Manoj Sinha was confirmed as the new Jammu and Kashmir L-G on Friday, turning into the principal political pioneer to assume responsibility for the association region.
