HRD Ministry is now officially Ministry Of Education after President Ram Nath Kovind’s assent

On Monday, a newspaper warning was distributed declaring that President Kovind had given his consent to change the name of HRD service to the Ministry of Education. The notice included that the heading Ministry of Human Resources Development stands subbed to the Ministry of Education.
In 1985, the Ministry of Education has renamed the HRD service when Rajiv Gandhi was PM. The NEP was presented in 1986 and was last altered in 1992.

A board comprised of PM Modi-drove government had first suggested that the Center should change the name of HRD Ministry again to the Ministry of Education. The board was entrusted with taking a shot at the new NEP and was driven by previous ISRO administrator K Kasturirangan.
In 2018, the plan to change the name of HRD Ministry was additionally proposed by Ram Bahadur Rai, director of the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts and furthermore executive of the joint sorting out council of the Conference on Academic Leadership on Education for Resurgence.
