Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while batting for the bill, had called it his government’s Beti Bachao Abhiyan or save the daughter mission.

Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Saturday approved the Dharma Swatantrya (Religious Freedom) Bill 2020. The controversial ordinance outlaws marriages with an aim of religious conversions.

“Under the new Bill, compelling strict change on somebody will draw in 1-5 years of detainment and a base Rs 25,000 fine,” said state home pastor Narottam Mishra.

Boss clergyman Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while batting for the bill, had called it his administration’s Beti Bachao Abhiyan or save the little girl mission. Nobody will have the option to change anybody starting with one religion over then onto the next through marriage or “some other fake methods by luring or threatening anybody” if the bill was passed, he had said.

“Government has a place with everybody, all religions and stations. There is no separation except for in the event that somebody attempts to do anything sickening with our little girls, at that point I’ll break you,” the central clergyman had added.

This endorsement comes after Uttar Pradesh’s lead representative’s consent to the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020, against coercive or fake strict transformations a month ago.

Area 3 of the bill states anybody saw as blameworthy of abutment to strict change will confront detainment of one to five years and a fine of at the very least Rs 25,000. Endeavor to conceal one’s religion will be deserving of detainment of three to 10 years and a fine of at any rate Rs 50,000.

In the event that a minor or a lady from Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste classes is constrained into change, the culprit will be detained for two to 10 years and fined up to Rs 50,000. Blood family members of casualties of such strict change can record an objection, the bill further states.

Arrangement for the detainment of five to 10 years and fine of at any rate Rs 100,000 is being made for endeavoring mass strict transformation (of at least two people).
