Mamata Banerjee Fumes At Centre’s Order On IPS Officers “Before Election”
The three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers were asked to report for central deputation a day after an attack on BJP president JP Nadda’s convoy near Kolkata last week.
Mamata Banerjee today blasted the centre for ordering three top officers out of Bengal, calling it a brazen attempt to control her state by proxy. In tweets, the West Bengal Chief Minister called said the centre’s move, ahead of elections due next year, was against the tenets of a federal structure.
The three Indian Police Service (IPS) officials were approached to report for focal nomination daily after an assault on BJP president JP Nadda’s escort close to Kolkata a week ago.
After Bengal wouldn’t send them, the Union Home Ministry today sent another letter asking the Mamata Banerjee government to calm the three officials as the soonest.
“The public authority’s request for focal nomination for the three serving IPS officials of West Bengal regardless of the state’s protest is a colorable exercise of intensity and glaring abuse of crisis arrangement of IPS Cadre Rule 1954,” the Chief Minister tweeted.
“This demonstration is only a purposeful endeavor to infringe upon State’s ward and cripple the serving officials in West Bengal. This move, especially before the decisions is against the essential principles of the government structure. It’s illegal and totally unsuitable,” she composed.

“We wouldn’t permit this baldfaced endeavor by the middle to control the state apparatus as a substitute! West Bengal won’t cow down before expansionist and undemocratic powers,” the Chief Minister railed.
