Maruti Suzuki’s popular car Alto (Alto) has set a new record. Maruti Suzuki announced on Thursday that Alto sales have crossed 4 million units. The Alto has become the first car in India to cross 4 million sales. This small car from Maruti has launched 20 years ago. This car has kept a constant stir in the market due to its mileage and affordability.
First entry-level car in the country to meet BS6 norms
The Alto has been India’s top-selling car for 16 consecutive years and is still selling well. Maruti Alto crossed the sales figure of 1 million units in 2008. At the same time, Alto sales crossed 20 lakh units in the year 2012. Its sales reached 3 million units in 2016. It is the first entry-level car in the country to meet the BS6 norms with the latest crash and Pedestrian Safety Standards. According to Maruti Suzuki, the Alto is the favorite car of the Indian car buyers. The company says that 76 percent of its customers choose it as their first car.
Alto’s starting price is Rs 2.94 lakhs
Currently, Maruti Suzuki comes in Alto, 6 Petrol, and 2CNG variants. Its ex-showroom kit is priced between Rs 2.94 lakh and Rs 4.36 lakh. The model, BS6 Compliant 800cc, comes with a 3 cylinder petrol engine. It has a 5-speed manual gearbox. The company claims that the Alto petrol variant generates the power of 47.3bhp and peak torque of 69Nm. At the same time, the CNG model generates a power of 41bhp.

If you talk about some of the major features of Maruti Alto, then it includes SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, power steering, front power windows, remote locking, manual AC with heater, dual-tone interior, dual front airbags, reverse parking sensor, ABS is provided with seatbelt reminders, speed alert system and EBD.
