No winter session of Parliament due to Covid, budget session in Jan likely
Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi said he informally contacted floor leaders of various political parties and they have expressed their concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic
Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi informed on Tuesday that winter session will not be held in the Parliament view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The government also indicated that it will be appropriate to convene the budget session in January next year.
Joshi said that he casually reached floor heads of different ideological groups and they have communicated their interests about the continuous COVID-19 pandemic and many have proposed the public authority to drop the meeting.
In a letter to the head of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Joshi stated, “Cold weather months are pivotal for dealing with the pandemic as a result of the ongoing spray in cases during this period, especially in Delhi. As of now, we are in December and a Coronavirus immunization is normal very soon.”
“Government is happy to have the following meeting of Parliament at the soonest; it is proper to have the Budget Session, 2021 in January 2021 remembering the phenomenal conditions made by Covid-19 pandemic,” Joshi composed.
Discussing the storm meeting which was postponed because of the pandemic, he acknowledged participation from all ideological groups for a gainful meeting held under exceptional conditions by making unique strategic game plans.
