Noor Wali Mehsud, chief of Pakistan’s terrorist organization TTP, has been declared a global terrorist by the United Nations. Noor Wali’s properties can now be attached to Pakistan.
The United Nations has declared Noor Wali Mehsud, the head of the terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a global terrorist. The 1267 ISIL and Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the United Nations Security Council put 42-year-old Mehsud on the sanctions list on Thursday. Now the properties of this Pakistani citizen can be attached, it can be banned travel and ban on keeping arms.
The sanctions committee said that Mehsud has been put on this list for ‘supporting al Qaeda-related groups, financing their terrorist activities, planning and executing them.’ Mehsud of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in June 2018 The chief became the head of this terrorist organization after the death of Maulana Fazlullah.
The United Nations was blacklisted on 29 July 2011 by the United Nations for having links with Al Qaeda. The Sanctions Committee said, “The TTP, led by Noor Wali, carried out a number of horrific terrorist attacks across Pakistan, including an attack on Pakistani security forces in North Waziristan in July 2019. He was also involved in the bomb attack on Pakistani soldiers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in August 2019. ‘
The committee said the group claimed responsibility for the May 1, 2010 bomb attack on Times Square. It attacked the US consulate in Peshawar in April 2010, killing at least six Pakistani nationals and injuring 20 others. The US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asia Affairs said in a tweet that it welcomes Mehsud to be included in the ISIL and Al Qaeda sanctions list by the United Nations.
If an individual or organization is blacklisted by the Security Council, countries have to restrain their economic sources, other financial assets, and economic resources without delay.
