Cab aggregators Ola and Uber in Delhi-NCR will be on a strike from Tuesday demanding extension of the moratorium on loan repayment and a hike in fare in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Around 2 lakh drivers of the taxi administrations have given the strike call as their interests have not prompted any activity by the legislature, said Kamaljeet Singh Gill, the leader of Sarvodaya Drivers Association of Delhi.
“Because of the intense monetary emergency brought about by lockdown, drivers can’t pay their EMIs. The ban of credit reimbursement finished today and the banks are now squeezing us. Drivers are frightened that banks will tow off their vehicles for not paying EMIs,” Gill said.
