OROP scheme: Govt disbursed over ₹42,700 crore to 20.6 lakh ex-servicemen in 5 years
- The armed forces personnel who retired by 30 June, 2014, are covered under the OROP scheme, the ministry said

The Centre has disbursed over ₹42,700 crore to 20.6 lakh retired defence personnel under the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme since its inception, the defence ministry said on Friday. “The yearly recurring expenditure on account of OROP is about ₹7,123 crore and for about six years, starting from July 1, 2014, the total recurring expenditure worked out to approximately ₹42,740 crore,” the defence Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

The plan was actualized to overcome any issues between the annuities of current and past ex-servicemen at intermittent spans.
The ministry stated that ₹10,795 crores has been dispensed to 20.6 lakh protection power beneficiaries or family retired people as unpaid debts because of the execution of the OROP.
The military faculty who resigned by 30 June 2014, are covered under the OROP plot, the service said. “Ex-servicemen had been fomenting for the usage of OROP for almost 45 years, however, the equivalent was not executed before 2015,” the service noted on Friday.
