Pakistan gives gold, illegal contract for uranium mining to Gilgit-Baltistan
Pakistan-China Deal: Pakistan has given China an illegal contract to mine gold and uranium in Gilgit-Baltistan. At the same time, the construction of a dam has been allowed at a cost of billions of dollars.
Pakistan has given an open exemption to Chinese mining companies for plundering natural resources in the occupied Gilgit Baltistan (GB) region, in violation of international laws and in violation of its own constitution. Not only this, but Islamabad has also signed a multi-billion dollar contract with Beijing to build a major dam in the Diyamar division, while the area is legal of India.
The government of Pakistan has given more than 2,000 leases to Chinese firms in Gilgit and Baltistan to illegally mine gold, uranium, and molybdenum. In doing so, the Imran Khan government has also blown environmental norms. The case of illegal mining has been revealed by the exiled leader and the chief spokesperson of the United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP), a leading political organization in the Gilgit Baltistan region.
Pakistan does not have the right
Aziz said, “We will expose this conspiracy of Pakistan to loot natural resources at the United Nations Conference in Geneva next month.” Citing Article 257 of the Pakistani Constitution, Aziz said that the government in Islamabad has no right to loot natural resources in the GB region.
Aziz further said, ‘Here the rules are being torn apart. The media cannot report. People who raise voice in the GB area are being punished. In such circumstances when no one can resist any decision then natural resources are being looted. Pakistan has become a toy in China’s hands.
Ignore the interests of local people
The UKPMP leader, who lives in Geneva, Switzerland, added, ‘Local people are not consulted. His interests are being completely ignored. Such a move to oblige China in the GB region is also a violation of international laws. Explain that the media has been completely censored in Gilgit, Baltistan, and Diamar in the northern areas. It is controlled by the Pak government.
Recently, there has also been a joint venture worth 442 billion rupees between China government firms and a wing of Pakistan Army to build the Diamar language dam. Pakistan plans to generate 45,000 MW of electricity using natural resources in Gilgit Baltistan. This electricity will be used for the people of Pakistan. Please tell that there is a local government in the GB area but it is controlled by Pakistan.
