Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi cleared her pending dues hours after the government announced it has canceled the accommodations at 35 Lodhi Estate stating that she is no longer protected by the Special Protection Group (SPG) and hence not eligible anymore.

“Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has made online installment of parity sum due to her. Consequently, presently levy as on 30.06.2020 is nil against her,” a spokesperson for the service of lodging and urban undertakings said.

The service has additionally said that she had an aggregated duty of RS 3,46,677 till 30th June.

The directorate of the home division of the service had given a notification to her to clear her home inside a month.

“Consequent upon withdrawal of SPG protection and award of Z+ security spread by Ministry of Home Affairs, which doesn’t have provision for apportioning/retention of Government accommodation on security grounds to you, the designation of Type 68 house No. 35, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi is therefore dropped w.e.f 01/07/2020. One month concessional period on a similar lease up to 01.08.2020 is permitted according to manage,” the letter sent by the service said.

“Any stay beyond 01.08.2020 will pull in harm charges/punitive lease according to rules,” it included.

As per the current standards, there are no provisions for allocation or retention of government retention except if exceptions are made dependent on recommendations given by the Union home service.

“Taking into account this, she is not, at this point entitled for Government accommodation and her assignment has been dropped by the Directorate of Estate,” the spokesperson of the service of lodging and urban undertakings included

Gandhi was apportioned cottage 35, Lodhi Estate on February 21, 1997, on security ground as an SPG protectee.

“Cabinet Committee on Accommodation (CCA) in its gathering hung on 07.12.2000 checked on the rules on the designation of Government accommodation on security ground and concluded that in future no private person, other than the individuals who are SPG protectees, will be given Government accommodation on security ground. Such assignments were to be done at the market rate for example multiple times of ordinary lease,” the authority said.

Nonetheless, the decision to adjust the standards was officially taken by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in 2015.

Congress boss priest Captain Amrinder Singh has fought the move and encouraged the Center to disavow the request.

“Skipper Amrinder Singh protests orders asking Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi to clear govt house, urges Center to reestablish her SPG spread and repudiate allocation cancellation on security grounds considering danger perception to Gandhi family,” the Punjab Chief priest’s office said.

“Daze scorn and a feeling of retribution with the Congress initiative is apparent by the BJP and Modi government… The notification to clear Priyanka’s home shows the disquiet of Modi Ji-Yogi Ji. We are not scared of the disappointed decisions of the dictator government,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.
