A month after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered humiliating defeat in the Punjab Assembly polls, its senior leader and in-charge of state Sanjay Singh has resigned from the post.

“I have handed my resignation to Arvind Kejriwal,” Singh said.

Another party leader, Durgesh Pathak, also resigned as co-observer in Punjab.

The resignations come a day after Arvind Kejriwal-led party placed a poor second in the MCD polls.

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has called a meeting with all party lawmakers at his residence today to discuss the party’s poor performance in Goa and Punjab Assembly polls as well as in the the MCD.

Yesterday, the AAP emerged a distant second in Delhi’s civic polls, with the BJP retaining power with a huge majority.

Soon after the results were declared, party’s Delhi unit in-charge Dilip Pandey had resigned from the post. MLA from Chandni Chowk, Alka Lamba had also offered to quit following the poll drubbing.
