Privatization of the railways will create a win-win situation for both the Indian railways as well as the investors, and also the users, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said on Thursday, addressing a joint press meet, along with Railway Board chairman VK Yadav.

“It resembles when private banks were set up in India. So numerous private players came in the financial part. In any case, that didn’t lead SBI to close. The private venture will get more current advances. It will make rivalry in the railroad division. The rivalry will expand productivity and lessen passage — over the long haul,” Kant said.

On-air terminal like client charge to be collected for redeveloped railroad stations, Railway Board administrator VK Yadav said the charge, which will mean a climb in rail line toll, will be ostensible. “The client charge will be ostensible. Likewise, the charge will be pertinent just for redeveloped stations. Not all stations are being redeveloped at present,” Yadav said.

On the issue of private players having the option to decide their own passages — as it has been chosen by the Indian Railways — the railroad Board administrator said as there will be rivalry from transport tolls and air admissions, private players will, in no conditions, charge over the top tolls.
