Secret proceedings in UK delaying Mallya’s extradition, Centre tells Supreme Court
The government told the Apex Court that though the extradition proceedings had been complete after the UK’s highest court had rejected Mallya’s appeal, some fresh proceedings have started.
Liquor baron Vijay Mallya’s extradition from United Kingdom (UK) to India has been delayed again due to fresh “secret” proceedings which have commenced in the UK, the central government told the Supreme Court on Monday. The next hearing will be on November 2.
The administration told the Apex Court that however the removal procedures had been finished after the UK’s most elevated court had dismissed Mallya’s allure, new procedures have begun, the specific idea of which is obscure to the Government of India.
“After removal procedures were finished, another mystery continuing has started yet we have not been told and we are not involved with the procedures. The removal which was maintained by the most elevated court of the UK isn’t going on (because of the new procedures),” advocate Rajat Nair who is speaking to the Center told a seat headed by equity UU Lalit.
The court at that point asked Mallya’s insight, Ankur Saigal, about the idea of the new procedures yet Saigal said that he didn’t have any directions from his customer with respect to the equivalent. The seat which likewise includes Justice Ashok Bhushan took issue with Saigal’s reaction.
“As his direction, you should be totally mindful. You can’t state you don’t know,” the court commented.
The court has requested Mallya’s legal counselor to give a solid reaction on November 2 about the idea of the new procedures in the UK, when those procedures are probably going to close, and when Mallya will show up under the steady gaze of the Supreme Court.
