Sreesanth can play in Kerala Ranji team by proving fitness

Indian fast bowler Shantakumar Sreesanth can play in Kerala’s Ranji team after his ban is over. The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has decided to consider his name for selection in the Ranji team after his ban ended in September. However, Sreesanth will have to prove his fitness before that.
Confirming this, Kerala Ranji team’s newly appointed coach Tinu Yohannan said, ‘KCA has decided that once the ban on them is finished in September, then they consider their name for selection in the team. Will go.
He said, ‘However his selection in the team will depend on his fitness level. They have to prove their fitness. Nothing is happening outside of cricket at this time, otherwise,I would have seen them playing on the field and giving them fitness tests. It is difficult to say anything at this time.
Yohanan, who has played 3 Tests and 3 ODIs for India, further said that Sreesanth will be given all possible help and support to return to the cricket field. He said, ‘We all want to see him playing again and we will welcome him in the team. He no longer needs to prove anything because he has already proved a lot. We will support him again so that he can play again and enjoy it. ‘
Yohanan, 41, said he would play again after seven years. So we have to wait and see what happens. ‘ When IANS contacted Sreesanth, he said that he was practicing. In 2013, Sreesanth was banned for life by the BCCI in the IPL spot-fixing case. In 2015, however, a special court in Delhi acquitted him of all charges against him.
In 2018, the Kerala High Court struck down the life ban imposed on him by the BCCI and also quashed all proceedings against him. However, a bench of the High Court upheld the ban. Sreesanth challenged this decision in the Supreme Court.
His crime was upheld by the Supreme Court in March last year, but the BCCI was asked to reduce his sentence and the Indian Board reduced his life ban sentenced to 7 years, which would expire in August this year. The 37-year-old Sreesanth has played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20 matches for India so far, taking 87, 75,and 7 wickets respectively.
