Supreme Court to decide on opening of the treasure basement of Padmanabhaswamy temple: Supreme Court
On Monday, the Supreme Court gave a historic verdict on the management of the world’s richest Padmanabhaswamy temple on the petition of the heirs of the Travancore dynasty. The court has left the decision to open the temple’s basement on the Admin Committee.
The decision of whether or not to open the cellar (Kallara B) of Padmanabhaswamy Temple has been left by the Supreme Court to the Administrative and Advisory Committee. The Supreme Court has directed to continue working with the old committee until the formation of these two committees. While deciding the responsibility of these committees, the Supreme Court has said that it will be their responsibility to preserve all the assets of the temple. The basement of the temple contains precious jewelry and precious treasury, which was blocked by the Supreme Court.
In its 2018 page judgment, the Supreme Court has said that the Administrative and Advisory Committee should be constituted in four weeks. The power of the dynasty of Travancore should be conferred on the committee under law. The chairperson and member of the Administrative Committee and Advisory Committee will be Hindu. The interim committee formed by the court order will continue to function for four months.
What will be the responsibility of the committee
The Supreme Court has said that it will be the responsibility of the Administrative and Advisory Committee to look after all the ceremonies and worship and maintenance in the temple. It will be the responsibility of the committee to worship the deity. The devotees who come will ensure convenience for them. Will secure and protect property in the interest of the temple.
All customs will be followed
The court said that the committee will protect all the funds of the temple. All the assets of the temple will be preserved. All the rituals will be performed in the temple. Pooja Archana and custom will be followed under the supervision of the Chief Tantri. It will be the responsibility of the committee to spend whatever is offered in the temple for the facilities of the devotees and to provide better facilities in the temple. Along with this, work will be done on the advice of the Advisory Committee in Charitelab and religious works.
Asked to conduct a 25-year audit
Whatever investment of temple money should be safe. The property and illegal possession of the temple will be freed. According to the advice of the court advisor, a 25-year audit of the book will be conducted by the CA firm according to the temple. The Advisory Committee will take steps to secure the movable and immovable property of the temple.
The committee itself decides on opening the basement
The Supreme Court has said in its interim order that the court had refused to open the temple’s basement. The Supreme Court has said that it will depend on the committee what decision it takes to open Cellar B. The security that the state government is providing will be paid from the temple fund.
