Third Congress MLA resigns ahead of Rajya Sabha polls on June 19
Five Congress legislators earlier resigned from the assembly in March. Congress leader Ahmed Patel accused the BJP of horse-trading amid the Covid-19 crisis. But the BJP rejected the allegations.
Another Congress MLA offered his abdication to Gujarat Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi on Friday, news organization ANI detailed.
“I have acknowledged it. He is Brijesh Merja, the MLA from Morbi,” ANI cited Trivedi as saying.
Two Congress lawmakers surrendered on Thursday, in misfortune to the party in front of the June 19 elections to four Rajya Sabha seats from the state.
The abdications incited the Congress to separate its outstanding officials into seven gatherings and surge them to better places in the state to forestall further abandonments until the surveying is held, party functionaries mindful of the issue said. Congress pioneer Ahmed Patel blamed the BJP for horse-exchanging in the midst of the Covid-19 emergency. “Isn’t Gujarat government the just one on the planet where: 1) Government has deserted individuals in a worldwide pandemic? 2) Refused to finance train passage for poor vagrants? 3) But investigates every possibility to support horse-exchanging exercises for a Rajya Sabha election?” he tweeted.
The BJP dismissed the charges, saying Congress administrators were leaving the party as they were “miserable” with its initiative. “I accept that some more Congress lawmakers would likewise leave sooner rather than later. They are leaving Congress since they are discontent with the party authority,” Amin said.
