NICE, France: An attacker with a knife killed two people and wounded several others at a church in the French city of Nice on Thursday, French media and police said, in an incident the city’s mayor described as terrorism.
Chairman Christian Estrosi said on Twitter the blade assault had happened in or close to the city’s Notre Dame church and that police had detained the assailant.
Police said two individuals were confirmed to have died after the assault.
The assault comes while France is as yet faltering from the decapitation prior to this period of French center teacher Samuel Paty by a man of the Chechen source.
The aggressor had said he wanted to rebuff Paty for indicating understudies sketch of the Prophet Mohammad in a civics exercise.
It was not immediately clear what the thought process was for the Nice assault, or if there was any association with the kid’s shows, which Muslims consider to be disrespectful.
Since Paty’s murdering, French authorities – backed by numerous customary residents – have re-asserted the option to show the kid’s shows, and the pictures have been broadly displayed at walks in solidarity with the killed instructor.
That has prompted an overflowing of outrage in parts of the Muslim world, with certain administrations blaming French pioneer Emmanuel Macron for seeking after an enemy of Islam plan.
