US bans China for human rights abuses of Uygar Muslims in Xinjiang
The US has banned a major paramilitary organization and its commander over alleged human rights abuses with Uygar Muslims in China. Any property of these organizations and individuals in the US can now be attached.
The Trump administration in the United States banned a major paramilitary organization and its commander in China’s western Xinjiang region for alleged human rights abuses against ethnic and religious minorities. The Foreign and Finance Departments announced the restrictions on Friday. At the same time, the White House condemned officials in Hong Kong for postponing local government elections due to the corona virus global epidemic.
The Hong Kong election has been criticized for delaying the election at a time when President Donald Trump himself suggested a postponement of the US presidential elections due in November. These restrictions mean that any property of these organizations and individuals in the US can be attached and Americans will be prohibited from doing business with them.
Restrictions have been imposed on Xinjiang Production and Construction, its commander, for alleged atrocities against Uygar Muslims. Finance Minister Steven Mnuchin said in a statement, ‘America is committed to fully utilizing its financial powers to hold human rights violators responsible for Xinjiang and worldwide.’

The Trump administration had previously imposed restrictions on other officials in Xinjiang. Meanwhile, the White House criticized the postponement of the upcoming elections in Hong Kong. White House press secretary Kelly McKinney said, “We condemn the Hong Kong government’s decision to postpone its legislative council elections for a year and disqualify opposition candidates.”This step undermines democratic processes and freedoms and is the latest in a growing list of breaking promises by Beijing. ‘
Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam announced on Friday that the government would postpone the much-awaited Legislative Council elections for a year in view of the rapid spread of Corona virus infection. The Hong Kong government is implementing an emergency ordinance to postpone the election. Lam said he had the support of the Chinese government in this decision.
